As part of EITA’s ongoing efforts to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices, employees came together on 20 August 2026, at EITA’s Bukit Raja headquarters, for an engaging session titled “Refuse & Reduce for a Greener Earth.”
Held from 11.00 am to 12.00 pm, the session featured Tan Seng Keong (SK Tan), Commissioner of Tzu Chi, who shared practical insights on how we can make more sustainable choices in our everyday lives.

One of the key messages from the session was a simple but important shift in mindset: refusing and reducing should come before recycling. Rather than relying on recycling to deal with waste after it has been created, SK Tan encouraged participants to first consider whether an item is necessary in the first place. In other words, recycling should be the last resort—not the first solution.

The session also highlighted how meaningful environmental change does not necessarily require major lifestyle changes. Instead, small and consistent choices made every day can create the biggest difference over the long term—whether it is refusing unnecessary single-use items, reducing consumption, or being more mindful of what we purchase and use.

The strong participation of more than 50 employees reflects EITA’s growing commitment to sustainability and our people’s willingness to take meaningful steps towards building a greener future.
Ultimately, sustainability starts with the choices we make every day. Refuse what we don’t need, reduce what we consume, and make small changes that add up to a lasting impact.
