In the spirit of volunteerism and caring, around 30 volunteers from EITA set out to help colleagues affected by the recent floods to clean their homes. The two-day clean-up programme was quickly organised on 23 Dec to carry out the clean-up 4 homes at Taman Sri Muda.
The volunteers, divided into 2 groups each day, were equipped with all the relevant cleaning materials to clean these houses that were covered with thick layer of smelly mud. Besides, repeated cleaning, mopping and washing, the volunteers also had to remove and throw away damaged household items.
As reported by the volunteers, the flooded cars had blocked the road access, and they had to walk about 3km to reach the colleague’s house.
The affected areas also face issues with water restoration. During the clean-up, the low water pressure made the clean-up efforts even more difficult. In addition, waterjet was unable to be used as electricity was cut off for safety reasons.
However, the teamwork, love and care among staffs – they accomplished their mission. It clearly demonstrates EITA “brings good feel to like” spirit.
