ETC Training (ETC) officially launched its Lift Competent Person Grade Three (CP3) Training Course and Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia secara Pengiktirafan Pencapaian Terdahulu (SKM-PPT) Level 2. ETC is the first centre to be recognized by Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran (JPK) to provide hands-on training in the field of lifts and escalators. At the same time, ETC has been certified by Jabatan Keselamatan dan Kesihatan Pekerjaan (JKKP) and supported by The Malaysian Lift and Escalator Association (MALEA) to run the CP3 course.
CP3 is an obligation set by JKKP for people who intend to carry out the tasks of maintaining lifts and escalators according to the provisions of regulation 31(5) for the Factories and Machinery (Passenger and Goods Lifts) Regulations, 1970. This CP3 course is essential to certify any individual’s skills and knowledge of lifts and escalators in ensuring that lifts and escalators are properly maintained for the safety and comfort of users.
SKM-PPT is one of the initiatives from JPK under the Ministry of Human Resources in recognizing any individual who possesses the skills and experience as outlined in the National Occupational Skill Standard (NOSS). In simple terms, it gives workers in Malaysia their due and appropriate recognition for their knowledge, skills and good work.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Deputy Minister of Human Resources – Tuan Ts. Mustapha Sakmud said, “It is absolutely crucial that we grow our own local talents and not depend on foreign workers. It is the only way by which Malaysia will be able to grow exponentially and be competitive on the global stage.”
Echoing Sakmud’s statement, Managing Director of ETC Training – Lim Joo Swee said, “ETC’s mission is to provide industrial based training to the elevator industry in Malaysia. We believe that by improving the performance and technical proficiency of the elevator industry in the country we can also contribute to the growth and development of the ASEAN region.”
Deputy Chief Director of JKKP (Putrajaya) – Ir. Haji Mohd Hatta bin Zakaria, Deputy Chairman of Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSHTECH) – Ts. Mohd Alwi bin Misman, Head Director of JPK Putrajaya – Ts. Dr. Mohamad bin Sulaiman, Director of JPK Wilayah – Ts. Mohd Raris bin Mohamad, President of Persatuan Personnel Lantikan Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran @ MyPersonnel – Mohtee bin Kimi, and President of MALEA – Raymond Sung, were all in attendance in support of the launch.
ETC is committed to provide high-quality training programs that will equip the entire lift and escalator industry in Malaysia with the necessary skills and knowledge. As such, ETC continues to seek partners both local and abroad to have access to the latest content of technology and techniques in lift and escalator maintenance. ETC’s ultimate ambition is to become the leading training centre in the lift and escalator industry in Malaysia.
